Bread Recipes Dinner Rolls
Recipe for dinner rolls calls for use of dough hook. Is that obligatory?
I have a recipe that im making for dinner rolls (serves 24). But instead of kneading the dough, she says to use a dough hook until the dough separates from the side of the bowl. Well i don't own dough hooks. I own an electric whisk and a food processor. OR more commonly used in making bread (or so i thought) my hands!
I was wondering is it ok to just knead the dough with my hands? Or is the dough hook necessary ?
Of course you can just use your hands.
A little tip - if you put all the ingredients into the food processor and turn it on, wait until the flour is crumbly, and then dump it out and knead it it will go together a lot easier. Tip from Jamie Oliver.

Anyone know a yeast Bread recipe, no baking powder?
I need a recipe for 1 loaf. It must no use baking powder and I don't have a bread mixing machine so I have to mix it myself in a bowl. I already have some but I need 1 more recipe for my Project. I've tried some web sites but many recipes use baking powder. I can't use a Baguette Recipe or French Roll Recipe either. Can you please help me?
I got this recipe here and made it. It is very good with a crunchy crust.It makes two loaves. You could freeze one to bake later or divide the recipe in half.
Old Fashioned Potato Bread (from yahoo answers)
1 med. potato, peeled and diced (about ½ cup mashed, plus 0.1 cup)
2 pkgs. dry yeast
2 tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. salt
1 c. milk
5 1/2 to 6 c. all-purpose flour
Cook potato in a small amount of boiling water 10 to 15 minutes or until tender; drain and reserve liquid. Mash potato, and measure 3/4 cup; set aside. Add enough water to reserved liquid to make 1 cup; cool to 105 to 115 degrees. Dissolve yeast in potato liquid in a large mixing bowl. Add butter and stir well. Stir in sugar, salt, milk, mashed potatoes, and 1 cup flour. Gradually stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a stiff dough. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 8 to 10 minutes). Place in a well greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place (85 degrees) free from drafts, 1 hour or until doubled in bulk. Punch dough down, and divide in half. Shape each half into a loaf. Place in two well-greased 8 x 4 x 3 inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise in a warm place (85 degrees), free from drafts. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until loaves sound hollow when tapped. Yield 2 loaves.

Anyone have any good omelette recipes for one including ham, cheddar, and tomatoes?
I want to cook my sweetie breakfast for Valentine's Day. But I've never made an omelette before. I need step by step instructions for making one with ham, cheese, and tomatoes. Also if anyone knows how to fold it into a heart shape too- that would be awesome!! Oh- and also, how would I make his pancakes heart shaped? Do I need a mold, or something? Thanks!!!
Denver Omelette Pie
6 servings 1¼ hours 30 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
6 eggs (or egg substitute)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 cups frozen shredded hash browns
1 cup shredded swiss cheese
1/2 cup diced fully cooked ham
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 medium tomato, thinly sliced

What else can I make out of french bread dough that failed to rise?
I just tried to make french bread in my bread machine. It didn't rise properly and the dough is really crumbly. ( I think it has something to do with not putting enough salt in) Is there anything else I could make out of the dough? I feel wasteful just throwing it out

Or make a flat bread (rusk) and put stuff like chicken and veggies and feta on top (like a dako).

Does anyone know if Pillsbury Refrifgerated Pizza Crust is the same product as the Pillsbury French Bread?
I can't find the refrigerated Pillsbury French Bread dough in my area (It comes in a can and is usually found near the canned biscuits). I have a lot of Great Recipes that call for it. I have read in an old post online that it is the same product as the Pillsbury Pizza Crust. Anyone know if that is true?
You can definitely use them interchangeably! You can also use the Crescent Rolls, but it will yield a flakier result.

Do you have a basic white bread recipe for a bread machine that's really yummy?
The first bread I made in my bread machine was blah. It's a Breadman breadmaker (does this even matter?) Thanks!
We'll move on to whole grains if I ever master white bread!
I've actually always found that whole grain breads turned out better in the bread machine than white bread, but usually they were all pretty good. So we need to know more. When you say it was blah, what do you really mean? Did it not rise? Or did it rise too much? Possibly you didn't put in enough salt. You might want to invest in a recipe book for bread machines other than the one that came with your bread machine. Try this recipe. I find it is a good one, but you may need to experiment a little to get it the way you want it. Try increasing the amount of powdered milk. That improves texture and flavor and richness.
1 cup warm water
1 egg
3 cups Bread Flour (though I use all purpose flour most of the time)
1 ½ teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons oil or melted butter (I use butter)
3 tablespoons honey
¼ teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons milk powder
1 ¼ tablespoons active dry yeast
If you don't have skim milk powder, you can use milk instead of water. Follow the directions for your bread machine. Results vary depending on the temperature and altitude of you location, the kind of flour, temperature of ingredients, and so on, so you may have to experiment to get it perfect. Recipes using corn flour?
I am looking for recipes other than corn bread using corn flour that i bought on impulse. I am a vegetarian.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)

DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, stir together the flour and cornmeal. Add baking powder and salt, and mix together well. Stir in water to form a crumbly dough. Work dough with your hands until it holds together.
On a floured surface, knead dough until smooth. Divide dough into 10 to 12 pieces. Roll each into the shape of a ball. Cover lightly with saran wrap and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
Flatten each piece of dough by hand, then roll into a 8 to 9 inch round.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the hot pan, and place one tortilla in the pan. Cook tortilla until light brown, turning to ensure equal browning. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
Corn Cake
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup masa harina
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups frozen whole-kernel corn, thawed
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl beat butter until it is creamy. Add the Mexican corn flour and water and beat until well mixed.
Using a food processor, process thawed corn, but leave chunky. Stir into the butter mixture.
In a separate bowl, mix cornmeal, sugar, cream, salt, and baking powder. Add to corn flour mixture and stir to combine. Pour batter into an ungreased 8x8 inch baking pan. Smooth batter and cover with aluminum foil. Place pan into a 9x13 inch baking dish that is filled a third of the way with water.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven F (175 degrees C) oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Use an ice cream scoop for easy removal from pan.

What are some good, easy to make Fillings to wrap up in Roti bread?
I'm looking for some ideas to make Jamaican roti's. I found a recipe for making the flatbread wrappers. Now I need suggestions for the fillings, (preferably vegetarian), and what sort of spices would go in them? When I was in Toronto, I ate some Jamaican roti's(very delicious!!) but wasn't sure what else was in them besides the basic vegetable ingredients.
If there are other kinds of roti fillings (East Indian, perhaps?) I would also be interested in those. Links to recipes would be good.
Usually the vegetables are carrots, sweet potatoes or potatoes, turnip, peas, but I think you should experiment with it. Don't forget the curry.

does anyone have a bread pudding recipe that calls for day old doughnuts?
All you have to do is substitute a doughnut for each slice of bread you would use. If you would like a recipe just e-mail me. Good luck!
Hey Sweetie! This is a tried and true recipe I used for years with no complaints from my seven kids!
1 litre milk
4 eggs
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
4 - 6 doughnuts broken or cut into bite size pieces
1. Place the doughnuts in the bottom of an oven -
proof dish.
2. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over
doughnuts.
3. Sprinkle with raw sugar.
4. Place in baking dish, pour water in baking dish
until about 2/3 way up sides of pudding dish.
5. Bake @ 360 deg until set.
**You can use bread buttered with or with out your favourite jam.
You can use leftover cake or basically anything that you like.
Try this once. If it's too thin use 2 more eggs,
you might want to use more doughnuts, it's really depends on your taste, but it's simple, cheap and yummy! Good luck, let us know how you go.
