anyone have any really cheap good recipes they invented by accident that is great and want to share?
Sometimes we create things with what we have on hand and it turns out great. I know I do. for instance If I add a pound of cooked ground beef to 2 cans of chef boardi sphagetti and than top with cheese and bake, my kids love this as well as my husband. And its cheap and easy to make!!!! So I was wondering if anyone else has done anything like this
Funny you should ask....Just last week..it was rainy and I didn't want to go to the store. I thought about chicken pot pie and had no chicken and was out of carrots too. I diced potatoes, onions, celery and boiled them until semi-tender. I made a white sauce and put in chipped beef (like you would for SOS --chipped beef on toast) When the vegetables were done I added frozen peas and put them in the sauce. I put it in a sprayed casserole dish. At this point I debated over pie crust or biscuit top. I went with baking powder biscuit dough which I made from white flour, baking powder, butter and milk--no salt as the beef is salty enough. After getting my hands wet with water from the faucet, I spread the crust on top of the casserole. I baked it until the crust was done and we loved it both that night and reheated in the microwave on the following day. I bought more dried beef this week and am planning to make it again, but this week I will also add a few carrots.
I called it Chipped Beef Casserole.

got a good recipe for Meat lovers chili? Perhaps just some good "chili meats" ???
trying to come up with a great chili for meat lovers!!! HELP
Here's a recipie my boyfriend loves! I make it in a big crockpot and serve it with cornbread. You can adjust the peppers to your tastes.
1/2 pound bacon - diced
3 medium onions - diced
1 1/2 pounds pork loin
1 1/2 pounds sirloin tip
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck -
2 15 oz. cans tomato sauce
1 18 oz. can beer
3 cloves garlic - minced
1 jalapeno pepper - seeded and mince
2 tablespoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon oregano
3 tablespoons chili powder
salt and pepper - to taste
2 cups dried pinto beans - optional
shredded cheese - optional
In a skillet, fry bacon until brown. Drain and place in the slow cooker. Remove all but a small amount of fat from skillet and saute onions until slightly brown.
Place onions in slow cooker.
Cut pork loin and sirloin tip into 1/4-inch dice and brown with ground chuck in skillet. Drain off fat and add meat to slow cooker.
Add remaining ingredients except cheese.
If you choose to use dried pinto beans, soak in water overnight, discard water, add beans to slow cooker and stir.
Set cooker on Low and cook for 6 to 8 hours. Meat should be very tender. Taste and adjust seasonings.
If desired, sprinkle with cheese before serving.

What do I add to chili to make it thicker?
So I added 2 lbs ground turkey, 1 can tomato sauce, 2 cans of spicy tomato's, 1 large can of kidney beans (drained), 1 tbsp brown sugar, 3 packages of chili mix (i like it spicy), and a finely chopped saute'd large white onion. And half a cup of water (the recipe called for 1 cup, but I thought for sure it would be too watery). I put it in the slow cooker over night and this morning it seems kind of watery STILL. So... What else can I add to it to make it thicker?
If you like your chili thicker, combine 1 Tbsp. cornstarch with about 1/4 cup water and blend well, then stir into the chili for the last 30 minutes of ...

Why Are We Running Out Of Chili Powder During Holidays?
I work for Safeway (Grocery Store) as an assistant manager. I am now in my 4th store and I have noticed a really weird trend between all the stores. During holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc) when I believe everyone is buying items for a big turkey dinner, we always run out of chili powder.
Is there a holiday recipe I am unaware of that people use chili powder in? Or is it sheer coincidence that we sell out of every chili powder we carry each turkey season? Any insight would be helpful in helping convince my staff to order more during the holidays. Thanks
TG occurs during cooler months, when may people want to make beef chili. Shouldn't be a big surprise. My guess is chili powder sales would spike whenever the cool months are. The fact that TG/Cmas occur during winter months is merely a coincidence.

crock pot recipe for chili needed.?
My husband says that his job held a chili cookoff one year and one of his co-workers made a white chicken chili and it was, according to him, "delicious". He tried the wcc at tgi fridays and it was nothing like his c-w made. The problem here is that this c-w no longer works for the company and I can't get the recipe. Please let me have your's? He says it was pretty white...the version at friday's was a bit yellow. Thanks.
That's easy. It pretty much cream soup with white beans and chicken.
Start out by sauteing chopped white onions, celery and garlic. Add vegetable stock and milk. Thicken with a roux. Add some canned white beans and some diced cooked chicken.
for seasoning, use:
White pepper
Granulated garlic
Cummin
onion powder
Salt
Chili powder (Just a tiny bit, you don't want it to affect the color)
Sorry, I don't use measuring spoons or cups when I cook.

who has a authentic recipe 4 chili verde &chili colorado.las palmas in calif isthe best but they wont show how
i love their food but i live in wisconsin now and no mexican food except taco bell. and we all know that is ok but not authentic, can anyone help me with a recipe?
I make mine in the crockpot! I use the boneless country style ribs (pork loin or shoulder), about three pounds, brown them with chili powder, salt, and pepper well in a skillet with olive oil. Put them into the crockpot. Next, add 1 jar of La Victoria Salsa Verde, one large can of chopped tomatillos, two cans of green enchilada sauce, one large onion sauteed, one large green pepper sauteed, one Serrano chile sauteed, one large Jalapeno seeded chopped and sauteed, four large chopped and sauteed cloves of garlic, a large can of College Inn chicken broth, and a bay leaf. Put all this into your crockpot, set on high til it starts to boil, then turn to low and simmer until tender, about 4 or 5 hours!

The only thing I know how to make is spaghetti and ground beef with veggies. What other EASY 15 MINUTE recipes are out there? Please don't write me a 20 step 1 hour prep recipe :-p
Salisbury steak
hamburger shaped into patties
Packet brown gravy
Sweet Onions and(green or colorful) peppers to taste if you dont like em, dont use em
Dash of salt
Frozen Steak fries or mashed potatoes
Mrs Dash (the seasoning)
Add a dash of salt to the hamburgers and some mrs dash mash them into patties put in a baking pan put in oven about 350 degrees, put peppers and onions on top. Once meat starts to brown mix packet gravy as per directions and dump over top. The gravy will thicken as it cooks. Once the gravy looks thick enough pull out of the oven and eat with a side of mashed potatoes or steak fries.
