Does anyone has some yummy recipes for "not to sweet" cakes, cookies or slices?
I am after some easy recipes for cakes, cookies or slices that are not to sweet.
My husband is fussy and doesnt like really sweet cakes etc but I want to find something homemade and yummy to make him for his lunchbox!
He does like chocolate also =)
ummm..whats a corn cake? Is it an american cake? Have never heard of it before =)
You can actually cut back on the amount of sugar in a lot of recipes. I do it all the time. If it calls for a cup, you can easily cut back to 3/4 cup or even less. This is my families brownie recipe. It's really easy and not too sweet at all. From your details I'm thinking you may not be in the US, so I hope you can translate the quantities over and give this a try!
Brownies
2 ozs unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c butter (1/2 stick)
1 c sugar (here's where I use less than 3/4 cup)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 c chopped walnuts (or pecans) even better if you toast them first
1/2 c semisweet chocolate -- chunked from a bar or chips (the higher the cocao % in the chocolate, the less sweet it will be)
Preheat oven to 325. Line 8 or 9 inch square pan with wax paper, butter paper. Melt unsweetened chocolate and butter in medium pan. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla, mix. Stir in flour, nuts, chunked semi-sweet chocolate and salt and pour into prepared pan. Bake about 25 minutes. (I go for slightly underbaked - that way they stay nice and chewy). Cool in pan on rack for 5 minutes, then flip over out of the pan, peel off the wax paper and continue to cool on rack. Eat them quick or cover them up tightly once cool so they stay chewy.

Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks or ½ pound) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (a 12-oz package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts
COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE in preheated 375ºF oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

What is the best old fashioned chocolate chips cookie recipe?

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
* 8 ounces butter
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar, packed
* 2 eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
* 4 ounce bar milk chocolate, grated
* 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, optional
PREPARATION:
In a large mixing bowl with hand-held electric mixer, cream together the butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well. In a separate container, mix together flour, oats, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
Place small amounts of dry mixture into blender or food processor and process until mixture turns into powder.
Mix the creamed mixture with the flour and oat mixture until just blended. Add chocolate chips, grated milk chocolate and chopped pecans, if using. Shape dough into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and place two inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes three to four dozen soft chocolate chip cookies.
Serpent Player's Old Fashioned Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
(another old-fashioned treat for serpentists, made the traditional way)
2-1/2 cup all-purpose white flour (no need to sift it before measuring)
2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (NOT sweet chips and NOT bitter baking chocolate chips), typical 12 oz bag is equal to 2 cups
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
3/4 cup brown sugar (packed into measuring cup to avoid air pockets)
3/4 cup general purpose 'white/granulated' table sugar (normal sugar)
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. (teaspoon) vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a small mixing bowl, thoroughly combine flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon; put aside.
Place butter into large microwave-safe mixing bowl and microwave for between 15 and 30 seconds to slightly soften contents (this step is optional if butter is already fairly soft - instead of microwaving, butter may also be left out at room temperature for a while to soften). Remove from microwave, and using a food processor with mixing implement or electric mixer, mix softened butter with both sugars until consistency is even and creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, and mix thoroughly. Gradually add previously mixed dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Using a wooden spoon or similar implement, stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Remove tea spoon (actual tea spoon, not the measuring kind) full of the dough, and drop onto ungreased cookie sheet (or pizza pan, tray, etc.). Repeat for remainder of dough, spacing drops about every 3" in each direction.
Bake cookies at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes, or until they just begin to turn golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before removing cookies from cookie sheet, placing them on layers of paper towel, or a baking cloth, or wire rack if available, until cool. Makes about 52 cookies of 2-1/4" diameter.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 cup butter, room temperature
* 3/4 cup granulated sugar
* 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
* 2 eggs
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 3/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 to 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
PREPARATION:
In large mixing bowl cream butter and sugars until light. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
Sift together the flour, salt baking powder, and soda; stir into the first mixture, blending well. Stir in chocolate chips.
Shape into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are light brown.
Makes about 4 to 5 dozen cookies...

Back in the 80's, Sunset Magazine published "Sunset Casserole Cookbook?
Inside was a fabulous recipe for a beef stew that you browned first, then finished it off in a baking dish. It had some unusual ingredients in it like bacon and orange zest.
I dont remember the name of it exactly.

Gingerbread Snowflakes
This seven-inch flake, prettier than a gingerbread house or a gingerbread man, is big enough to share -- but who really wants to? Sanding sugar atop piped royal icing gives it an icy sheen.
Ingredients
Makes 16 cookies
* 6 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
* 1 cup packed dark-brown sugar
* 4 teaspoons ground ginger
* 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
* 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
* 1 teaspoon finely ground pepper
* 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
* 2 large eggs
* 1 cup unsulfured molasses
* Royal Icing
* Fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling
Directions
1. Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder into a large bowl. Set aside.
2. Put butter and brown sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; mix on medium speed until fluffy. Mix in spices and salt, then eggs and molasses. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture; mix until just combined. Divide dough into thirds; wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate until cold, about 1 hour.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out dough on a lightly floured work surface to a 1/4-inch thick. Cut into snowflakes with a 7- inch snowflake-shape cookie cutter. Space 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, and refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.
4. Bake cookies until crisp but not dark, 12 to 14 minutes. Let cool on sheets on wire racks.
5. Put icing in a pastry bag fitted with a small plain round tip (such as Ateco #7). Pipe designs on snowflakes; immediately sprinkle with sanding sugar. Let stand 5 minutes; tap off excess sugar. Let icing set completely at room temperature, about 1 hour. Store cookies between layers of parchment in an airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days.

plz help me everyone, correct my grammatical errors for the following sentence..its an email..plz dont b angry?
1)In trivandrum there is no pizza hut or mc Donald’s, but only a pizza corner . During summer holidays or Christmas vacation I go with cousins to pizza corner
2 Believe it or not I made 15 curries and a Paysam all alone during an Onam because my mom was sick and I was only 18 years old
3 I learned to cook vegetarian food items from my mom, and non vegetarian food a few recipes from mom, some recipes from magazines, internet etc
4 other than cuisines I love chocolates and ice creams a lot, I cant stop eating once I get started
5 I'm not a sporty
Ok I'll give it a shot ~ sorry I really can't help with the second one!
1). In Trivandrum there are no Pizza Huts or McDonald's. There is a Pizza Corner that I go to with my cousins during Christmas vacation and summer holidays.
2). ?
3).I learned to cook vegitarian food from my mom. I also learned to cook a few non-vegitarian recipes from my mom as well as from magazines, internet, etc.
4).Other than main dishes, I also love chocolate and ice cream, although its hard to stop eating them once I start.
5). I am not athletic

I am in need of a spritz cookie recipe... I use this recipes to make spritz cookies but also to make snowman and some other types too... if u have such a recipe or anyother easy and quick christmas cookie recipes please would u share them... Thank u and Merry Christmas to all...
Buttery Spritz
Prep: 25 min; Bake: 45 min
Makes about 5 dozen cookies
1 cup stick margarine or butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
Few drops red or green food color, if desired
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees
2. Mix butter and sugar in large bowl. Stir in
remaining ingredients
3e. Place dough in cookie press. Form desired
shapes on ungreased cookie sheet
4. Bake 6 to 9 minutes or until set but not brown.
Immediately remove from cookie sheet., Cool on wire
rack.
*It's not recommended that you use margarine or vegetable oil spreads
*Do not use self-rising flour in this recipe

(Saturated 2g); Cholesterol 10mg; Sodium 40mg;
Carbohydrate 5g (Dietary Fiber 0g); Protein 0g
Chocolate Buttery Spritz
Stir 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, meted and cooled,
into butter-sugar mixture

This is the time of year where diets are tossed out the door, and wonderful desserts take their place in the forefront of our minds and imaginations.
The holiday season is a wonderful time to spend with family and friends. Whether shopping the day away or relaxing by a fire with a loved one sipping on a cup of cocoa with or without marshmallows, you will find this is the season when sweeter is better.
Of course, exploring some of the delicacies of the holiday season can be just about as sweet as actually partaking of them. Take a look at a few Christmas foods that are traditional parts of many households and generations of families.
Fudge says it all!
What is more traditional when it comes to Christmas foods than wonderful chocolaty fudge? This creamy delicacy is sweet and creamy. Whether you like yours with or without nuts, you will find fudge is always a crowd pleaser. Wrapped fudge makes an awesome gift as well as a great addition to the holiday table.
Nowadays, fudge comes in other varieties rather than just chocolate. For instance, peanut butter fudge is more popular than ever. There are even other types of fudge you can make by using your imagination and a good cookbook.
Divinity is divine!
Divinity is a light and delicious candy difficult to make but scrumptious to eat. Divinity is generally one of those candies isolated to the holiday season. However, divinity is delicious anytime of the year. One of my favorite holiday traditions is making sugar cookies. Add frosting and some sprinkles, and you have a delicious treat good for any day. Cookie cutter cookies from Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix?
I'm looking to make sugar cookies with cookie cutters, but the dough formed from the recipe:
1 Pouch Sugar Cookie Mix
1 Stick Butter (softened)
1 Egg
is very sticky and difficult to work with besides just forming a round cookie. Is there anything that can be added to make the dough more "cookie cutter friendly"
I've found that spraying the cookie cutter with Pam or non-stick spray helps a lot. Also helps in the removal of dough from corners or tough edges when I have coated the cutter with the spray.
