What's a great lasagna recipe?

i just usually follow a typical recipe, including using ricotta cheese cut with cottage cheese, because i find it too rich, and i usually use italian sausage without the casing. what do you suggest?

1 pound sweet Italian sausage
3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
12 lasagna noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS
In a Dutch oven, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

How many different ways can you make chicken?

I make fried, both kinds, floured and breaded, chicken parmesan, chicken taquitos and tacos , chicken spaghetti, Italian chicken, teriyaki chicken, chicken stir fry, bbq chicken, breaded chicken sandwiches, carving board chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets and strips , chicken soup, chicken casserole, baked chicken and foil packets…..

and I’m sick of them all….don’t get me wrong I do eat beef, pork and fish, but chicken is always cheaper at the store.

What do you do with chicken and do you have any recipes that you might think that I might like?

I want a good old fashioned recipe for chicken gumbo, old style. Grandma use to make it, but she passed on with her recipe.

I’m up for anything, list what you know and pass around some recipes if you don’t mind.
Oh, a good recipe for something like General Tao’s chicken or sesame chicken will be great !!

Citrus Chicken & Rice

4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 3/4 cups Chicken Broth
1/2 cup orange juice
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
1 tbsp. dried parsley flakes
Orange slices

COOK chicken in nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 10 min. or until browned. Set chicken aside. ADD broth, orange juice, onion and rice. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 10 min. Return chicken to skillet. Replace cover. COOK 10 min. or until chicken is done. Stir in parsley and top with orange slices.

Mexican Chicken Casserole

5-6 skinless,boneless chicken breast
15 oz black beans, drained
2 cans corn, drained
1 c chunky salsa
1 c cheddar cheese

In crockpot, place chicken. In large bowl, combine beans, corn & salsa. Mix well. Pour over chicken. Cover & cook on high 3 hrs. Sprinkle cheese over mixture. Cover & cook 10 min.

Salsa Chicken

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
4 tsp taco seasoning mix
1 cup salsa
1 c shredded Cheddar cheese Kraft 2% low fat
Light sour cream for garnish

Preheat oven to 375 . Place chicken breasts in 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle taco seasoning on both sides of chicken. Pour the salsa all over the breasts. Bake about 25 - 30 minutes or until chicken is tender and juicy and juices run clear. Sprinkle the cheese on the breasts evenly and bake another 5 minutes or so until melted and bubbly. Serve with fat free sour cream as a garnish if desired.

Fiesta Chicken & Rice Bake

1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Cream of Chicken Soup
1 cup Picante Sauce
1/2 cup water
1 cup whole kernel corn
3/4 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
Paprika
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

MIX soup, salsa, water, corn and rice in 2-qt. shallow baking dish. Top with chicken and sprinkle with paprika. Cover. BAKE at 375°F. for 45 min. or until done. Sprinkle with cheese.

1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Creamy Chicken Verde Soup
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 cups cubed cooked chicken
4 flour tortillas (8-inch), cut into strips
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

MIX soup, water, garlic powder and chicken. Stir in tortillas. SPREAD in 2-qt. shallow baking dish. Top with cheese. Cover. BAKE at 350ºF. 25 min. or until hot.

Best recipe for Chicken Marsala w/ Marsala COOKING wine?

Okay, I want to make chicken marsala tonight. Mmm. I love it fro Olive Garden. Anyway, I can only get Marsala cooking wine because I'm 18. Can I use a regular Chicken Marsala recipe and just substitue the wine w/ cooking wine, or is there a better way to do it with the cooking wine? The chicken will be cut into chunks and it will be served with pasta and mushrooms. Any tips on making it with the cooking wine? I know it won't be the same, but I want it as close as possible.

i work at the olive garden as a line cook. you can use the cooking wine instead of regular marsala wine. that's what we use, but we also use this commercial marsala base for the flavour. try adding rosemary, one of the main herbs we use.

CHICKEN DIJON PARMESAN

1 c. chopped cooked chicken
3 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp. finely chopped onion
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 c. no cholesterol mayonnaise
1 egg white
1 tsp. dijon mustard
Grated mozzarella
2 English muffins, split

Combine chicken, mayonnaise, cream cheese, egg white, onion, mustard and Parmesan. Spread on four muffin halves. Top with mozzarella and broil until cheese is golden. Serves 2. Variation: Mix in 3 tablespoons chopped pimiento and top with Swiss cheese instead of mozzarella.

Should lasagna be made this way...or that way...?

I've always had lasagna the "American" way: layered with a meat sauce and three different cheeses. But I've seen recipes with a bechamel sauce (similar to a rue for mac n cheese) and bolognese sauce (the meat/ veggie sauce mixture). Parmesan is then sprinkled on top. Which, in your opinion, produces the best lasagna?

The bechemal type is usually made and best for a vegetable lasagna, there's also a Mexican type with salsa or a tomato sauce based with tortillas as the pasta.

Help with Italian recipe? Carbonara?

I am making dinner for my boyfriend and I want it to be perfect. I've found 2 recipes, one is claimed to be the authentic recipe and the other recipe has cream in it. I've made the recipe with cream in it before but it was a long time ago and I don't even remember how good it was. The cream sounds better but I want something with alot of flavor. So if anyone has had experience with both of these recipes, the one without cream and one with cream, which is the best and more flavorful? Thanks for your help

Spaghetti Carbonara Recipe
Ingredients

Serve 4

1 tablespoon olive oil

175 g/6 oz smoked bacon, rinded and cut into strips

1 garlic clove, crushed and chopped

300 g/10 oz spaghetti

4 tablespoons double cream

3 egg yolks

75 g/3 oz Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

salt and pepper

Method:

Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the bacon and fry over a low heat for 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta until al dente. Drain well and return to the pan.

Beat together the cream and egg yolks, add to the bacon and mix well over a low heat.

Add the sauce and Parmesan to the spaghetti, season with salt and pepper, toss well and serve immediately.

Note: The traditional Italian way to serve spaghetti carbonara is with an egg yolk in its shell on top of each serving, which is mixed in by the person eating.

Basic pasta (may be called Ziti) recipe please?

My kid loves pasta, but he's extremely picky. He likes it in yellow color. He once ate it at Sbarro, its cheesy and yellow in color. He asked not to add the sauce over it, and said he loves it without any red tomato sauce. Let me know how I can make it at home.
I think I need to add Ricotta and Marinara. Could anyone please explain how they add it at Sbarro. and what the recipe is.

I dont think there is any recipe. All ziti recipes generally have some type of spaghetti sauce in it, Your best bet would be to cook the pasta and just make a cheese sauce.
