What's a great lasagna recipe?
i just usually follow a typical recipe, including using ricotta cheese cut with cottage cheese, because i find it too rich, and i usually use italian sausage without the casing. what do you suggest?
1 pound sweet Italian sausage
3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
12 lasagna noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS
In a Dutch oven, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Best recipe for easy shrimp scampi?
All I know is I have shrimp and thin angel hair noodles. I guess i need help!
Real quick and easy Shrimp scampi: peel and clean shrimp. Sautee shrimp in a little olive oil and butter over med to med/hi heat. Just before thoroughly cooked, remove shrimp and set aside. In pan with oil and butter, add about 1/4 cup more of butter. Saute a couple cloves of minced garlic, add 1/4 cup white wine, parsley--1-2 TBSP, and salt and pepper to taste. Add shrimp back to pan and warm through--do not over cook. Lastly squeeze juice of 1/4 -1/2 lemon over all and stir. I serve this over rice--as I like how the rice soaks up the buttery sauce. But this can be served over noodles--as it often is in restaurants.

Healthy Recipes Shrimp Pasta
Have you ever eaten BAKED coconut shrimp? Is it as good as the fried version?
I've looked at recipes on the web and see many for baked coconut shrimp. I really would prefer not to fry since it's healthier, BUT since I'm entertaining, I want to make sure it will come out good. Weigh in with your opinion. If you're the type who enjoys healthier foods (like whole grain pasta, brown rice, etc.) please mention that. It's not that I don't trust the opinions of healthy eaters, it's just that they tend to have different tastes than the average joe.
Not but I am sure it is still pretty good. I would not consider myself a healthy eater but I do try and have been trying to do more baking and the only reason I do not bake as much as I should is because it gets so hot down here you do not want to put on the oven. As far a baked shrimp I do not think you could go wrong with that and that is something I would like to try for myself because I love the coconut shrimp but I am trying to cut down on fried foods.

Healthy meals?
PLease can someone give some tips for healthy meals that are low fat and would fill me up till the next one.
Breakfast
Dinner
Tea
Any recipes/links theres so may sites I cant find any particularly good one. That are easy and quick to make. I work in an office and find it hard to eat enough and get soo hungry whilst working my tummy's always rumbling! x
Breakfasts: Poached egg, soft yolk on whole grain toast, fruit
Fiber One Cereal with skim milk (has 1/2 daily fiber
requirement with berries;
Low fat Yogurt, fruit (eat fruits instead of juices...much less sugars;
AM & PM snacks: Low fat Yogurt, palmful of nuts: Walnuts, pecans, almonds, macadamia nuts, pistashios. Fruit salad grapefruit, cantaloupe, red grapes, kiwi, mango, papaya, pineapple, apple; salad greens; broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, celery, Protein bars (check ingredients), etc.
Lunch & Dinner: Lean protein: Turkey breasts, skinless chicken; salmon with honey/mustard/lemon marinade 5 minutes in microwave in glass baking pan with a little water on bottom; or in oven till flaky about 10. minutes
tuna, chicken, egg salad on greens or sandwich;
Fish: Mackeral, anchovies, salmon, sardines, salmon(all high in Omega 3 oils); Tofu; Soy cheddar cheese, 1%cottage cheese with greens, tomatoes,etc.; farmer cheese,
turkey burgers with ketchup lettuce & tomatoes; tilapia, sole, Chilean sea bass, tuna steak with wasabi & lite soy sauce,
Home made vegetable soup; Burritoville: burrito with soy cheese & whole wheat taco;
Fluids: Water, fresh brewed iced tea, hot tea with lemon/honey, a little decaf coffee.
Hope this does something to stop rumblings

Can you please suggest detailed recipes for some quick easy dinners that teen agers would like?
Please do not send short answers like "look in allrecipes.com". I have found a few, but my wife (who would rather say " eating fast food costs the same and is less of a headache and I am too tired to cook.. etc... I don't mind cooking... in fact I'd rather cook than her cook than her be even more tired after wards.) HELP!

My favorite fast easy cheap recipe to make is chili.
Take one can each of:
Kidney beans
black beans
white beans
pinto beans
refried beans
whole kernel corn
small can of diced chilis
one onion (diced)
one pound of ground beef or turkey (or you could add more if you like)
and one packet of taco seasoning
Rinse the corn and beans, toss in a pot and cook for 25 minutes and you're done. Its yummy and nobody has to know its good for you.

Can you give these dishes a twist?
Hello! I need a new twist to my son's favortie dishes.
Here's a list of them. You can give me any recipes for any other dish too. I spacifically wanted these dishes with a twist, AND perhapes other dishes.( my kids like a lot of Italian)

Spaghetti
Shrimp Spaghetti- which is spaghetti with out the sauce and shrimp instead of meat
Macaroni and Cheese

Chicken Sticks
Fish Sticks
Fish on your plate- which is a medium sizes fish ( with seasoning and things) everyone gets a fish.
Tacos
Salad< Tyler LOVES Salad and he's only two!
Rice
Beans
Stir-fry< They both love this, but its hard to make. Any tips on making it easier?
Cheese burgers
Hotdogs
Chili
and many other things. Oh and Nick wanted me to tell you cookies too!! =) =)
A local grocery had a frozen shrimp or chicken stir fry-- I buy that, a 89 cent bag of mixed frozen veggies-- start rice in the micro-- I use 2 cups dry with 4 cups water/tad of oil and some salt-- my micro is 1000 watt-- so I put it on hi for 5 minutes-- then 70 % for 20 minutes in a micro rice cooker--
whip out the old wok-- drizzle a bit of corn oil in the pan-- follow the directions for the stir fry-- adding extra veggies when you are supposed to add the package veggis--After the wok food is nearly done, I mix up chicken broth with soy sauce and a couple tablespoons of corn starch-- makes a "gravy"--stir the pot-- both wok and rice are finished at about the same time--
fed two teens, one growing 3d grader and one old fat oma-- with seconds and sometimes left overs......

I need some tasty easy Ground Beef recipes!?
I want to make something with Ground Beef, unlike the usual spaghetti and meatloaf, etc. I cook all the time, but I just want something different and easy with ingredients that normal people would have in their pantry. Anything you love to make or find yummy let me know!
You never can get a reply without someone having some sarcastic mark related to what the person has asked. It is so refreshing to know that people feel the need to constantly correct everyone else. When i said normal, it was meant in a sence of the basic essentials that people have on hand in pantries to make quick and easy Recipies. So thank you for your comment.
Easy Ground Beef Casserole with Potatoes
1 to 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef, browned
1/2 cup chopped onion
salt and pepper
3 large potatoes, sliced
2 Carrots, shredded
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation:
Brown ground beef in a skillet with chopped onions; cook until onions are tender. Drain off excess fat; transfer ground beef and onion to casserole dish. Add layer of sliced raw potatoes, sprinkle with salt and pepper; shred carrots to cover potatoes. Put soup over carrots. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Sprinkle shredded cheese over top and bake for about 5 minutes longer, or until cheese is melted.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
1/2 cup taco sauce
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
dash of Tabasco sauce
6 ounce bag corn chips, slightly crumbled
chopped onion
chopped tomato
grated cheese
chopped lettuce
Preparation:
Pan Size: 3 quart casserole Oven Temp: 350 Time: 10-15 minutes Brown ground beef; mix in the taco sauce, tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic salt, oregano, Tabasco sauce. Simmer 10 minutes. Put half on bottom of a 3-quart casserole. Top with about half of the crumbled chips. Add remaining ground beef mixture, some chopped tomato, onion, chopped lettuce, and grated cheese (use 1 cup or more). Put remaining corn chips on top. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes, or until hot and cheese is melted.

Beef Macaroni Casserole
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Ingredients:
8 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked
salt
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 pound ground beef
1 medium bay leaf
1 can (14.5) ounces stewed tomatoes
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Preparation:
Cook macaroni in boiling salted water according to package directions. In a large saucepan, combine 1/4 teaspoon salt, onion, green pepper, garlic, butter, pepper, ground beef, bay leaf, and stewed tomatoes. Cook slowly for 20 minutes; stir in 1 1/2 cups of the Cheddar cheese. Spoon about half of the macaroni into a buttered 2-quart casserole. Top with cooked meat mixture then remaining macaroni and reserved cheese. Bake beef macaroni casserole, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes.
