Recipes Hamburger Soup
I am looking for an old hamburger soup recipe that uses alspice as one of its ingredients. Help!?
SWEDISH MEATBALLS
1 lb. ground beef
6 slices whole wheat bread
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 can Campbell's beef consommé
1 can Campbell's tomato soup
Mix together all of the above; shape lightly with your fingers into 1 inch balls. Brown on all sides in a lightly greased skillet. Heat 1 can of consommé and add cooked meatballs. Cover pot and cook over very low heat 1 1/2 hours. Add extra consommé or tomato sauce if desired or if meatballs seem to be sticking.

what can i make with chicken and potatos?
I really want to use my crockpot. but cant think of any specific recipes. i have heavy whipping cream, no milk, vegies white rice spices chicken and potatos and cheese. this is all the food i have until friday so i want to use my crockpot to make a big batch. can anyone think of anything to make?
Italian Crock pot Chicken and Potatoes
Ingredients:
1 26 ounce can of spaghetti sauce
1 cup of cleaned chopped portabella mushrooms
1 pound of cubed boneless skinless chicken breast (cubed pork may also be used)
1 8 ounce bag of shredded mozzarella cheese (fresh mozzarella may also be used)
6 red potatoes washed and cut into 1 inch pieces
½ cup of chicken broth
¼ cup of diced onion
1 cup of Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese
¼ cup of chopped red pepper
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 palm full of fresh chopped basil
Preparation:
Combine chicken broth, spaghetti sauce, potatoes, onion, red pepper, crushed tomatoes, basil, chicken and mushrooms into a slow cooker. Stir to mix all ingredients.
Cook in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Add the ½ of the mozzarella cheese (4 ounces) and gently stir.
Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and parmigiano-reggiano cheese and serve immediately.
Serve over warm toasted Italian or sour dough bread,
whole wheat pasta, traditional pasta or gnocchi

Trying to eat healthier and make home made soups. Would love to use lots of veggies and some meat (chicken, beef).
ps: am a guy and really...looking to make soup for the lady..
borsch soup---my way:
just find any veggie you can find in the grocery store, ie carrot, cabbage, potatoes, onion, celery, chop it up and put it in a stock or water for like 2 hours....make sure you put beef chunks in there....(ox tail is good too)...last a small can of tomato paste will do the job. 2 hours and you have a very healthy soup.....

Jewish cooks - How do you make your cholent?
Anything special you use? Beef, lamb, Chicken?
I make a French "Bourguignon" style w/ wine as my liquid base, a Cajun one w/red beans and rice (beef instead of pork of course) and I'm thinking of toying with a lamb and lentil one.
Everyone has a different cholent and I always like picking up new ideas and tricks (for any recipe actually).
I realized the cooking and recipe section is kinda dead so I'm asking where I know Jews are.
My husband sticks (okay we don't use measuring cups so bear with me on this), he puts about 3 toiveling cup fulls in the crock pot... maybe thats about 8 cups of water total?
Then he puts in the Roast and the potatoes.
After a few hours (he starts this at about 6am)... he adds a kishke (vegetarian style cut into slices with plastic still around it)...
He adds barley, maybe some cut up romanian sausages.... add a little more water if he needs it.... a bottle of ketchup... and a dab of honey.

Any German cooks out there?
Aunt Frieda used to make something she called "kleuten" sp?? They were kind of chewy dumplings that she put on top of stew or soup. I know they had flour and egg in them but I don't know what else. Can't find them in any German cookbook. Can anyone help?
Sorry, I don't know if these are what you want, or not, but might be worth a try:
Anna's German Dumplings
"These homemade family recipe dumplings are wonderful in any type of soup, chicken or otherwise. Grandma made the best. She never measured anything until one day a long time ago, I measured everything as she did it."
Original recipe yield:
12 servings
PREP TIME 15 Min
COOK TIME 20 Min
READY IN 1 Hr 35 Min
INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold water
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS
Place the milk and salt in a saucepan, and set over medium heat. In a small bowl, mix together 1 1/2 tablespoons of flour and water. When the milk begins to bubble, stir in the flour mixture, and cook stirring constantly until thickened, 2 or 3 minutes. Let cool until set. You can put the mixture in the refrigerator to speed the process.
Fold the eggs into the chilled dough. Add 1 cup of flour and mix thoroughly (dough will be lumpy). Drop into simmering soups by the teaspoonful. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, remove lid, and simmer 10 minutes more.

Any Chinese recipes using pork stewing meat with the following ingredients...?
Hi I'm trying to figure out how to blend some of these ingredients together for supper tonight...I have an idea but I'm still not sure as I'm still learning to use some of them. but here is a list of some of the ingredients I have....
Sesame oil, chinese 5 spice, rice vinagar, curry powder, fish sauce, oyster sauce, green pepper, celery, garlic, carrots, onion. alont with some pork stewing meat.
Any ideas on how to bring this together?
Personally, I avoid curry powder (Thai or Indian) & fish sauce (Thai & Vietnamese) when cooking Chinese foods.
You can make a nice pork stew using only water, 5-spice powder, oyster sauce (soy sauce is better, more plain), sugar & a few garlic cloves.
Stir fry the garlic, green pepper, celery & carrot, seasoned only with salt, pepper & a few drops of sesame oil.

Easy Recipes For Cheese Soup
What is a quick and easy and simple recipe for cheesy potato soup?
I'm trying to keep from going to the store. lol I'm just now learning to cook and I'm trying to surprise my mom with dinner, and I dont know much about cooking lol. I don't have any half anf half. I have potatoes, bacon, and Velveeta cheese. What else do I need, and what are the steps in preparing this?
POTATO CHEESE SOUP
2 cans chicken broth
1 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped onion
3 c. diced potatoes
1/2 c. water
Combine and boil 20 minutes. Add 16 oz. bag frozen mixed vegetables. Boil 10 minutes. Add 2 cans cream of chicken soup, 1 lb. Velveeta cheese. Simmer until cheese melts
OR
POTATO CHEESE SOUP
6 to 8 large baking potatoes
2 cups milk
4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup butter
8-12 strips bacon, cooked
1 cup sour cream
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and pepper to taste
Bake potatoes until soft, then peel. Mash or cube the potatoes depending on the desired consistency for the soup.
In a large soup pot, combine butter and flour to make a roux. Cook for 1 minute, then slowly whisk in the liquids.
Add salt and pepper, potatoes, cooked bacon, and cheese. At the last minute, stir in the sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
Soup will be thick. Add milk to reheat
OR
CHEESE & POTATO WILD RICE SOUP
1/2 c. wild rice, uncooked
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 lb. bacon, cut in pieces
1/4 c. onion, chopped (optional)
2 cans (10 3/4 oz.) cream of potato soup
1 qt. milk
2 1/2 c. grated cheese - Colby, Longhorn or American
Simmer rice and water in covered saucepan until rice is fluffed and tender. Fry bacon and optional onion, drain on paper towel. Dilute potato soup in large saucepan with 1/2 can water and 1/2 can milk. Stir into soup: 1 quart milk, bacon, (onion), cheese and rice. (Rice can be drained first or any remaining liquid can be put in with the rice.) Heat, stirring until cheese is melted.
Note: Quantity of rice, bacon or cheese can be increased to suit your own taste.
OR
CHEESE POTATO SOUP CASSEROLE
1 (2 lb.) bag frozen hash brown potatoes
2 cans Campbell's cream of potato soup
1 pt. sour cream
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 lb. cheddar cheese, shredded
In large bowl combine potatoes, soup and sour cream, salt, pepper, and half of shredded cheese. Butter a 9x13 pan well. Pour in mixture. Top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.
OR
CHEESE POTATO SOUP
2 cans cream of potato soup
2 cans Pet milk
2 boxes chopped broccoli
1/4 of 2 lb. Velveeta cheese block
Heat until warm and cheese is melted.

Can I have some vergetarian recipes? for a very fussy vegetarian.....?
That don't contain the following; pasta, carrots, sweetcorn, courgette, tofu, betroot, peppers, any kind of bean or pulse, leeks, brussel sprouts,bean sprouts, sinach, asparagus, sweet potato, or anything thats weird. Sorry to be a pain in the arse, lol. No soup recipes please. I practically live of the stuff already. Please nothing to complicated i'm not a master chef. Thanks
Since that rules out most food that normal vegetarians eat, I'd go for Linda McCartney sausages with frozen peas and mash. Or baked potatos with cheese and baked beans. Or (frozen) nutburgers with cauliflower cheese. That's certainly not Masterchef, but at least like that you'll get a balanced diet. (Do eat lots of fruit as well).
You could do something like mushroom, tomato and onion risotto (with cheese on top for protein).
I do think you should gradually try and expand your options though
