anyone know easy recipes with Fish-like flounder or tilapia ?
Grilled Tilapia
Pinch ground cumin
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch paprika
Pinch kosher salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
Tilapia Salad, recipe follows
Cashew Yogurt Sauce, recipe follows
Heat the grill. Cut the fillet in 1/2 lengthwise. Lightly season the fish with the cumin, cayenne, paprika, and salt. Coat each piece in olive oil and grill, 3 to 4 minutes on each side. To plate, begin by covering a dinner plate with a layer of cashew yogurt sauce. Place the pieces of grilled tilapia in the center, overlapping one another. Top the fish with the tilapia salad and place the tangerine segments around the plate.
This recipe was provided by professional chefs and has been scaled down from a bulk recipe provided by a restaurant. The FN chefs have not tested this recipe, in the proportions indicated, and therefore, we cannot make any representation as to the results.
Tilapia Salad:
1 honey tangerine
1/2 cup watercress
1 teaspoon tangerine zest
1/8 cup raw red beets, peeled and julienned
1 tablespoon cashews, roasted
Using a sharp pairing knife, remove the skin of the tangerine. Slice the tangerine into rings and remove any seeds. Mix the watercress, tangerine zest, and beets with the cashews. Serve with the grilled tilapia and cashew yogurt sauce.
Cashew Yogurt Sauce:
3 quarts plain yogurt
6 limes, juiced
1 1/2 bunches fresh cilantro leaves
6 large garlic cloves
4 tablespoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Taste for seasoning.

Recipe for frying or baking tilapia with panko crumbs?
Could someone please tell me how to fry or bake--tilapia with panko coating--do i just add salt and pepper? How long would i fry it? how long do i bake it?--if i bake it--is the dredging process the same as frying (flour, egg and panko?--and maybe some spray?)

I had panko coated tilapia for supper last night. You are right about dredging with flour then coat with egg and press in panko but I put it back into the egg and press again in panko. I fried it in olive oil with just a little salt & pepper for seasoning. I fried 2 minutes on one side & flipped for another 2 minutes.....just until the panko is golden. Served with a green salad and peas & carrots. Mmmm. No potato with this meal as the panko is quite enough. I also do the same thing with haddock, cod, pollock and sometimes halibut.
Baking is about the same timing but you will need to spray with a little EVOO otherwise it will dry out.

Tilapia and vegetables in foil on grill?
I want to make tilapia with veggies on the grill in foil packets. I'm looking for a citrus type recipe. Does anyone know of any, or the best way to make this?
What vegetables would you suggest? Thanks!
Lightly oil the tinfoil and season both sides of the fish with salt and a little Lemon or Lime zest.
Finely slice some onions and carrots and add as few frozen veggies like green peas, corn, cauli etc.
Season veggies and fold up sealing well.
Toss on a medium hot grill and allow to bake for about 30 minutes, turning after15 minutes.
Open carefully and either use the foil as a plate of serve out as you would.
Garnish with wedges of the lemon or lime you got the zest from.

Does anyone have an Axteca tortilla fish taco recipe?
The recipe was in a magazine under the Azteca brand name. I know it uses cilantro and I believe tilapia. Does anyone know of the recipe?
There are millions of fish taco recipes in magazines. It would be helpful to know what magazine and if it was an advertisement for Azteca or if it was a recipe article.
I tried the Azteca site and they do not list a fish taco recipe currently.

Not fishy tasting fish recipes.....?
My husband will only eat fish it it doesn't taste 'fishy'. I have some Tilapia fillets and would love some recipes to prepare them that would minimize the fishy taste so he will eat them. Thanks!
First off you need to make sure that you are using fresh fish...if you are then none of the fish you choose should taste "fishy", when it does taste that way you need to throw it out.

Tilapia Fish Recipes Easy
Does anyone have a good tilapia fish recipe?
Something easy and that doesn't require too many ingredients. How long do you cook it for on a George Foreman grill or baked in the oven. Please Help.
Fish once a week at our house, tried a lot of recipes and the winner was (with my husband and 11 year old son) a very plain one:
Tilapia is a white fish and cooks fast, overcooked is dry. All I did is drenched it it seasoned flour (salt, pepper) and pan fried it in cooking oil, medium heat about 3 minutes each side. Always serve with lemon wedges. Simple but you do get the wonder full fish flavor and then you can get creative with the sides to your liking.
We like a cold kraut salad with fish:
Wine kraut ( drain juice)
small red onion diced
2 small carrots grated
1 granny smith apple diced
olive oil, salt, pepper to taste
chopped parsley; optional
Mix all ingredients and refrigerate, makes a real yummy salad to go with fish.

What kind of seasonings are in Seasons Breadcrumbs (is it italian seasoned breadcrumbs?)?
I have a recipe that calls for seasoned breadcrumbs. It's a tilapia recipe. I only have regular breadcrumbs...I want to improvise but what would i use. this is the recipe.
BAKED PARMESAN SOUR CREAM FISH
4 Servings
1 lb. tilapia filets
8 oz. FF sour cream
½ c. shredded Parmesan cheese
½ t. each salt and paprika
¼ t. pepper
1/3 c. seasoned breadcrumbs
Preheat oven to 350.
Spray a 9"x13" baking dish with Pam.
Place fish in baking dish.
Stir together sour cream, cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Spread mixture evenly over fish.
Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Spray top with butter-flavored Pam.
Bake 20-25 minutes or until fish is cooked through
i have italian seasoning in a jar would that work? 
i don't have alot of those dried herbs on hand, and i'm trying to avoid going to the store will the italian seasoning just work?
I would add:
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
and salt and pepper or taste.
They probably do mean Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
Enjoy, it sounds wonderful!
EDIT: The jar seasoning will probably work just fine After you mix the seasoning with the breadcrumbs and give it a little taste before you put on the fish, just in-case you don't like the flavor.

Tips For Spicing Up Seafood

World of Flavors: An easy recipe that turns fresh fish into an exotic dish is topping tilapia with a mixture of soy sauce, lime juice, orange juice, fresh ginger, garlic and cilantro. To produce a richer flavor, make the soy sauce mixture at least 24 hours in advance and refrigerate the sauce overnight. Serve the sauce at room temperature or slightly warmed. With its sweet, mild taste and firm, flaky texture, tilapia will soak up the flavors and take on a deliciously Asian flair.
If you prefer a delicately flavorful fish such as halibut, complement its medium-to-firm texture with bold spice blends such as curry or chili.
Healthy Oils: The key to making flavorful oils for a simply elegant and heart-healthy meal is to add herbs and spices, such as basil, garlic, salt and pepper, to olive oil over a low heat on the stove, similar to making tea. This allows you to adjust the intensity of the flavor. After heating the olive oil, strain the mixture and remove the herbs and spices. For a special touch, place the olive oil on your table surrounded by sprigs of the fresh herbs and spices.
Be adventurous! Add a variety of flavorful herbs and spices to your oil mixture, such as exotic peppers, chives, dill, lemongrass or mint. If you serve olive oil over salmon, you'll also enjoy the heart-health benefits of essential omega-3 fatty acids found in this delicious fish.
Cooking With Wine: Wine is not only good for drinking, it's also great for cooking. Pour white wine, such as a Sauvignon Blanc, over a firm white fish like mahi-mahi and season it with chili powder to intensify the flavor. Mahi-mahi is light enough to bring out the crisp citrus taste of this popular wine. But remember, your sauce will be only as good as the wine you choose, so always cook with a wine you enjoy drinking.
Adding Some Zest: Add the tangy flavor of citrus by generously squeezing lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit juices over your favorite fish or seafood and garnishing with freshly grated zest. When using fruit zests as a garnish, it is best to slightly poach them beforehand in sugar water, as raw zests can taste bitter.
For quick, tasty meals, make a citrus butter ahead of time by combining melted butter and citrus juices, cooling the mixture and storing it in the refrigerator until ready to use. Citrus juices mixed with melted butter also make great dipping sauces for succulent lobster and shrimp.
Studies show eating fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids, including mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon, at least twice a week is good for the heart. Using an array of herbs and spices offers endless opportunities to bring out the best in all varieties of fresh fish and seafood.
